AC Shadows Reveals Unexpected AoT Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a unexpected collaboration that breaks conventional expectations, Ubisoft has announced an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Adventure Revealed
According to the authorized announcement, "A mysterious confrontation pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where whispers of prohibited practices and monstrous transformations resonate through the darkness." The storyline presents a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who charges the duo with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a hidden group.
The adventure centers on "peculiar trials and a terrifying adversary" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Settings and Transformations
The trailer highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser finishes with a powerful scene showing a character, probably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Additional Material
Players who finish the quest will receive an unique katana together with numerous objects concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Exclusive implements
- Survey Corps mount
Newest Free Story Addition
This release also introduces the game's latest free story content, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic abilities: Naoe debuts a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Past Anime Crossovers
This signifies not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime series. The series earlier showcased a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally contained a quest that clearly referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
